Week 111 – Coming Home!

November 26, 2016

I love you all, and I will see you all in a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll be home soon!

Friends and family, this will be the last time that I will be writing you as a missionary! I truly don’t know were the time has gone, but I would just like to say that I love you all so much, and I am so grateful that I have had the opportunity to serve my Lord and Savior for the past 2 years! If there were any one that I have learned here, it would be about the atonement of Jesus Christ! I know that He is my Savior! I know that He died and suffered for me, which really wasn’t even fair for Him! If you think about it, He was the only perfect, sinless person to ever walk the earth; the only person to be able to go back to the presence of God without the atonement, and without suffering, but He did just that. He suffered. He suffered until He spilled great drops of blood! At that moment He said, “Father if it be thy will remove this cup from me, but thy will be done!” In other words, He said, Father, Aba, I’m scared, I’m lonely, I’m in so much pain, and I don’t think I can do this! I need your help! It hurts, it hurts so much, but Father I love you! I love you so much, and I love my brothers so much that I will do it if its what You want me to do! I know that if I don’t, our creations will never be able to return to You! And so He did it! He did this for each and every one of us! I am so indebted to him!

Among many other things that I have learned on my mission is about the family! Here I have seen so many broken families! I have seen how a family can change when they start to live the gospel and apply it in their lives! That is why I came! To help these people understand the importance of the family! I know that many times we under appreciate our families and all that they have done for us! They are here not just here to be your friend, or to be just some person that you see a lot! No, they are your celestially planned family…your brothers and your sisters. We are not here, nor have we been sent to this earth to ignore those closest to us, or those meant to be closest to us! We must cherish, respect, and help our family grow together! We have not been put on this earth to do everything alone! In fact we were not put on this earth to do anything alone! We need our family and our Father, and those who think otherwise are truly mistaken!

I would like to close this letter stating how much I love and appreciate my family! I’m sorry if before the mission I didn’t spend enough time with you guys or didn’t truly understand the role that you all had in my life! You’re all amazing in your own unique and special way! I love you! I will always love you!!!!!!!!

Week 90 – It Always is Amazing!

October 3, 2016

This week was another amazing week! I feel, and know, that I say that each week, buts it’s only because its true! Ha, ha! Every week in Bolivia has been so amazing!

This week we had a leadership counsel with all of the leaders from the mission! It was super amazing and very spiritual! My comp and I were able to teach a big portion of the meeting along with the President of our mission and his wife!

We also had conference, which always is a crowed favorite! Ha, ha!  I have learned so much from our wonderful leaders this week. It has been incredible!  It truly is humbling when you can really feel Gods love so strong in your life and have it guide you to make the right decisions and feel warmth.

This Wednesday we will have a baptism of a young man of 35 years, named Carlos! He is super awesome!  He is an amazing person who really had a rough time growing up!   About 2 days ago he was telling us about his childhood and he just began to break down and cry!  It’s super humbling to see how the gospel can change the lives of so many people!

Love you all! Hope you all doing great! You’re all in my prayers!

Week 88 -2 1/2 Months

September 19, 2015

This week was another amazing week! My comp and had so much to do because so many new missionaries came in this week, and a couple were leaving!   We went to the airport about 5 times! Ha, ha, ha! We also had to do a bunch of presentations this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and in the morning on Thursday! But it was super fun seeing all of the new missionaries come in! It makes me feel soooo happy to see that there are so many worthy young men and woman that are willing to spend 2 years of their life in the service of their Lord!

p1110392Our recent convert is now the greatest missionary tool that we have! He has been giving us many references, and many of who are truly chosen and prepared children of God, ready to hear his word! That is truly amazing!  I also have a new compañion his name is Elder Medina and he is from Wankallo, Peru. He is just a champion! With him we are focusing on spending less time in the offices and more time teaching, which has been awesome. I’m so stoked to be able to teach with him! He is such an amazing elder! I love you guys all so much! I hope you have an amazing day!

Week 87 – I am Grateful to Teach

September 12, 2016

Well, hey guys I love you all sooo good!

I’m really sorry that I haven’t written you in such a long time! With my new assignment we just don’t really have much time to write! Well these past weeks have been amazing. I have learned so much more here in this area! I would  like to share a short story about the converting power of the gospel!

About a month ago we received a reference from a member in our ward of a young man who works as the doorman and receptionist in an apartment building. My comp and I went up to contact him! When we first talked to him he seemed like a guy who wasn’t super friendly and didn’t really want to hear us, but he asked us questions, and we were able to teach him!

We then came back to teach him a couple days later we saw a small change in him! Then we gave him the Book of Mormon and told him to read it. We told him that it would change his life. He told us that he would read it, but if he didn’t understand it, or like it within the fist page, the next time we came to visit him he would return the book to us!  The next time he invited us in, and said Elders, I know that this book really comes from God and I would like to be baptized! This Saturday what he desired came true! He was baptized, and was able to receive the greatest gift given to man! The Holy Ghost!  This week he told us that when we first came and talked to him, he wanted to do what he had done before with the other religious groups that visited him. He wanted shoo us away and try and have us doubt our own faith, like he had done with the others! But he said that with us we were so sure about what we said, and that what we said was true that there was nothing that he could say to make us think that what we were saying was false!

He is an amazing young man and a true convert of the Lord! I am so grateful for the opportunity that I had to be trusted by the Lord, and to be able to teach Luis, and help him make sacred covenants with the Lord! I love you all so much! You’re amazing, and I pray and think about you guys always! Have an amazing night!

Week 85 – Breakfast included??

Matthew didn’t have time to write a group email, so I’m sharing mine.  Hopefully, I won’t get in trouble:)

August 22, 2016

Hey mom, all is well! Yesterday we were traveling with the President all

day so I had no time to talk but I love you so much, and I want you to

know that I’m safe. Right now I’m in Tupiza, which is awesome. I miss being

here, and the coolest thing is that the President let us sleep in a hotel, and

breakfast was included! I felt super privileged. Hahaha! How was the

week? Tell me everything!

Week 84 – This barrio is amazing

August 15, 2016

 I love you all!

First off I love this barrio so much it’s amazing!   Let me tell you who is in our ward!   To start off, the President of the Temple in Cochabamba, the President of the Mission, an Area 70 who teaches us each week, and is just such a stud with the scriptures, and all of the American senior missionary couples serving in our mission! It is just super awesome!  This week we had a leadership meeting with all of the leaders in the mission, which was amazing. My comp and I taught about the importance of the role of leaders here in the mission! This week I also learned about the importance of obeying with exactitude, and that the Lord really focuses and loves details. He wants us to work on, and better the small details in our life! I love you guys so much and I’m so grateful to have you guys providing such amazing support. Have an amazing day! Ciao!
